Rated 4 out of 5 by MaggieMai from The suction is marvellous on the DC58 animal, but as I have a very long haired cat, the longer hairs become twined around the rotating brush and shorter hairs and other debris becomes tangled and caught, eventually producing a long column which tends to clog the aperture before it enters the machine. This requires a lot of starting and stopping to clear the brush bar. With the combination nozzle, I still have to keep cleaning the aperture, even when I have booster on. For ease of cleaning window sills, confined areas, curtains, wall hangings and paintings, which tend to accumulate a lot of the cat's finer hairs, the machine cannot be faulted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Cruze from Nothing comes close I've owned Dyson machines for years. I currently have 3 including my DC58. I purchased it to replace my ageing Dyson handheld which, to be fare even after years of abuse, still worked perfectly and the difference is remarkable. The battery life with the DC58 is superb and as Dyson claim a good 20 minutes worth of cleaning from a full charge and no loss of power up until the battery is flat. Suction on the DC58 is as good if not better than some of the older Dyson uprights and with the Boost mode more than ample for all household cleaning chores. There really is nothing else handheld wise on the market at the moment that can compete with Dyson.

Rated 5 out of 5 by JF73 from Above the rest This is not a company made up review. I have a few health problems concerning my back and nerve issues. These vacuums are so easy to use and with a little effort looked after. This is my first hand held after the lightweight upright which is brilliant though not for stairs. Wow I am seriously impressed. This is still a new item for me and a wall bracket would have been nice but that is a minor issue (I think this can be bought seperately). So far I love and and cannot believe there is that much dust in the house. I have yet to tackle the car but will update if system allows. P.S. I needed a mortgage to buy the DC58 ! but so far worth every £

Rated 5 out of 5 by pnel0924 from Versatile and Powerful I love my handheld Dyson. A friend suggested I buy a handheld vacuum to reduce the amount of time spent dusting. I took her advice and couldn't be happier! I spend a lot less time cleaning now that I vaccuum dust instead of wiping/smearing it. It's a huge time-saver. My daughter bought me the attachment hose, and this is perfect for getting into small places (around the toilet bowl). I had a different handheld vaccuum before, but it was bulky and didn't work as well. This is the perfect tool. It cost a little more than what I wanted to spend, but it's well worth the time I save cleaning. I also own a full-size Dyson that I love.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Sean7 from Good suction power, feel a little hard to clean The suction power it produced is remarkable. It can get rid of very tiny dust. However cleaning the bin seems to be a little hard for me. I noticed that in the instruction it is not allowed to water clean the cone in the bin. I am worried about the dust accumulating in the cone, behind the plastic filter net. Hope that won't affect the machine. Overall it is really good. 20 minutes working is enough for this kind of handheld vacuum to fulfil its tasks. It would be better if Dyson can provide the mattress tool together with DC58. I believe that most customers who want to buy this model will use it to deal with their mattress.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Debsjw from I love the DC58 Animal as I have two very hairy dogs. Now I can take them out in the car to go for walks because I can just Dyson up after them. Only huge downside is the battery does not last long enough to do the whole car, so I have to charge it half way through. I love the service you get with a Dyson Product, the engineer coming to your house and sorting any problems quickly and efficiently and giving you the opportunity to look at any new brands and try them out whilst your Dyson is being mended. The call centre were very friendly too, I didn't even know I had a guarantee until they assured me I had. Wonderful Company wonderful team X Debbie Owen x

Rated 5 out of 5 by julie58 from dynamic dyson purchased the dyson 58 handheld vacuum today (15/02/15 ) for the stairs and the car,i already have an upright dyson which is fantastic but I was fed up battling to balance it when vacuuming the stairs. on taking the dc58 out of the packaging it had some charge on it so we tried it on the stairs with the motorised brush wow! it is fantastic, husband only vacuumed the stairs yesterday with the upright so thought they were clean.also I thought it would be bigger than it is and also heavy, happy to say it is very neat and lightweight,so will easily fit in a small space for storage.all in all very happy with my purchase.

Rated 3 out of 5 by VacuumUser from Good but could be better Had my DC58 animal almost two years now. It is onto its second battery after the first one failed within 14 months. I'm glad I'm still within my 2 year guarantee as it has just started going a bit wonky again so will be needing to get it sorted out. I'd like to see it made a bit more powerful and I'd like to feel it was a bit more reliable. Battery life when in use is fine for my use of it as I would rarely use it long enough to flatten it. Would like to see a better tool for use on stair carpets as the ones supplied are not up to the job. I'd still buy Dyson again but if I got the chance to try another brand of equal/better performance, I could be tempted to change
