microsoft all-in-one media keyboard is rated 1.7 out of 5 by 134.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from No Fn Lock By default the F1 to F12 keys are locked as in as media 'smart' keys. You have to hold the Fn key in order to use the keys as they would normally be, hit Alt F4 to close a program and instead your computer goes to SLEEP! Its very annoying! No software from Microsoft to fix this problem despite numerous complaints from other reviewers. Other than that you pretty much get what you pay for with this keyboard, decent looking design saves quite a bit of space in your work area. The build quality feels cheap, poor quality plastics used, keyboard has a lot of flex to it,the touch pad feels alright, but nothing special. The lack of a Function lock hurts this product the most. Surprised Microsoft would put its name this I expected more.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Absolute Garbage - I feel cheated. Just received this from an online order, and I can't believe it is actually being sold. That's how bad it is. The trackpad is infuriating to use for two reasons. 1) You have to move almost a 1/2 inch before it responds on the screen, at which point i jumps to the spot. Makes positioning almost impossible. 2) The trackpad buttons register movement, so if you rest your thumb on them, the trackpad is constantly trying to pinch zoom when you move your finger. The hassle of shipping this back to get a refund isn't even worth it. I just went from a devoted MS fan to sitting here in disbelief that something so poorly made could be released. Microsoft -- can you fix this in the drivers?

Rated 2 out of 5 by from No F-Lock I bought this keyboard a couple of days ago to use with Visual Studio within a virtual machine. Since there is no F-Lock on this keyboard, I cannot use it efficiently as I need the functions keys F1-F12. I could at least switch the default behavior on my Surface Pro with Fn + Caps Lock, but that does not work on this keyboard. Other than this problem the keyboard types fairly well and the trackpad gets the job done. This is really a media keyboard for use with HTPCs and for that purpose, it does a good job, but for any sort of development/office work I would not recommend this keyboard (for that I use my Natural 4000 keyboard which is awesome!).

Rated 2 out of 5 by from No F-Lock, lowsy Touchpad Compare how frequently you use the alt+f4 combination to how frequently you put your computer to sleep with the push of one button. Ever since the good old days when manufacturers put a Sleep button above the arrow keys of your keyboard this has been an issue. An F-Lock is needed! I don't need to constantly pause/play my music but what I do need is to easily rename my files/folders via the F2 key. Why not make it optional? Why hard-code it and force it upon us? The touch-pad is pretty lousy too

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No fn lock key no way to make fn keys be default I got this keyboard today and I am so disappointed because the media keys are default and there is no way of changing this. Each time you want to press a function key you have to press the FN key. I am a heavy function key user and the keyboard for me is plainly unusable. Suddenly closing a window (Ctrl + F4) requires both hands and putting the computer to sleep each time I want to close an app (Alt+F4) puts the computer to sleep - no fun at all. I am returning this keyboard.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Doesn't live up to expectations Bought it for a decent price. The wireless works well with good range. The Media functions also work well. However the media keys are overlayed on the function keys and on by default. You have to press and hold the fn key to get a f1, f2, etc key press. This confused me for awhile as every time I tried to alt-f4 the computer would enter sleep mode. Not usable for others in the house that can barely operate the media center as is.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No Alt F4. non of the function keys work I would've preferred this keyboard in a Bluetooth version because of the limited ports I have on my device(1) but it looked good and had to try it. feels good to type on, but I don't like the volume rocker, mute, and right click mouse button on the left because I like reaching for the esc button with my left pinky and not worrying about hitting any other key, but sometimes I hit the right click mouse button a few time, which im not even sure what its for, before I realize its not the esc button. that gets annoying fast. But most frustrating thing about this keyboard is the locked fn key. by default, and theres no way to change it, hitting any of the f1-f12 key activated the media keys so if youre trying to use the universally known shortcut alt f4 you will end up putting your computer to sleep instead of closing a window. the new and less than ideal way this keyboard is setup forces you to hold down fn alt f4 to close a window.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Function keys are backwards! They Fn keys perform media actions instead of their default actions. Why would Microsoft change the default behavior of keys after ages of having had the same functionality? I spent a week accidentally putting my computer to sleep when using Alt+F4, which was really frustrating. I'm really hoping for a software update that could disable this forced Fn-lock and return the Fn keys back to normal.
