microsoft designer bluetooth desktop keyboard and mouse set is rated 2.2 out of 5 by 30.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Why move the keys around? I tried this with my Surface Pro 3 for 2 weeks and could never get used to the new layout or the feel of the mouse. I think they could have accomplished the same sleek look with a more traditional keyboard layout and a more ergonomic mouse. My biggest issue with the keyboard was that I couldn't get used to the new locations of the arrow and Delete keys (the arrows were the bigger problem). I otherwise liked the feel of the keyboard. The mouse was ok, but as I mentioned, a more ergonomic mouse (closer to the Wireless Mobile Mouse 4000) would have been better. The keyboard was great for typing otherwise and I never had any technical issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect! Just received one for the office. Elegant, stylish, great touch. And it installed effortlessly with my Surface Pro 2. Now buying my second for my personal Pro 3. Highly recommended.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cannot connect to Windows 10 Pro PC The Bluetooth Desktop was purchased last week. I have a Samsung NP530U3B notebook PC with Windows 10 Pro clean installed. The Bluetooth Add a Device just cannot detect the product in pairing mode. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the BT driver in Windows 10 without success. The interesting part is that if I plug a standalone Bluetooth adaptor made by IOGEAR (GBU521) into the Samsung's USB port loaded with a different device driver, then the Designer Desktop can be paired without problem. Also, the same product can be paired with my Macbook Pro without any problem. So my question is that is this a problem between the BT driver in Windows 10 and the Bluetooth desktop? Currently, there is no updated driver for the Bluetooth Desktop on Microsoft Download Center.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice to work with it. Very nice feeling and a very low noise when typing. It worth the money. BUT I didn't found a way to swap the Fn button function. I'm working a lot with MS Excel and I need to use the function keys (F1 - F9) and to do that I have to press first the Fn key. Microsoft, can you please find a solution to swap the media keys on the Fn button and leave the original function keys free??

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Windows 7 isn't supported....but android is? How much sense does that make? I bought this for a workstation setup at home that I dock my work supplied laptop into but it runs on windows 7. The fact that I can pair both the keyboard AND mouse perfectly fine with an android device but you guys make it so that it doesn't work on Windows 7 in an attempt to force people to upgrade is ridiculous. I have no say in the matter, so I basically can't use this on my work system. It's great on my home PC which runs windows 10 but that isn't why I bought it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great function/design, but could use improvement The keyboard is designed superbly and has a great feel to it, but unlike the mouse you can't actually turn it off for some reason. This becomes problematic when storing the keyboard in a bag or against anything. Since it doesn't come with a cover to go over the keys, when they get pressed they wake the keyboard right up and re-establishes connection, inputting the keys on your device. The mouse, as stated earlier can turn off interestingly enough, but the mechanics need improvement. Compared to the keyboard, the mouse feels cheap and a bit loose but otherwise works flawlessly and on basically any surface. 3 stars because I wish the keyboard came with a cover (or was able to switch off), and the fact that the mouse isn't designed as sturdy as the keyboard.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nice design, but frustrating performance I'm coming back to review this keyboard, which I gave 3 stars some time ago. After using it for a few months, I can say how it performs with long-term usage. One of the most annoying issues with this keyboard is that it has a cramped layout, some keys -- like Page down, Page up, End, Home -- are all placed in one column, between the main keys and the numpad. If you are a touch-typist, this vertical layout makes finding these very important keys a pain. Especially if you're writing in the dark or dimly lit environments, you're going to have a hard time finding those keys by just following your mental habits. And having those keys laid out in a vertical line is not very ergonomic at all. I understand that it's a compromise to make the keyboard more compact, while still being a fully featured keyboard, but Microsoft should have done more practical tests with touch typing before deciding on this layout. This layout also makes finding the arrow keys very difficult, because there is no tactile hint on where they are. The arrow keys are mixed together in the same area with Page Down and it's very easy to press page down by mistake while you were just trying to move the cursor just one line or character. The same issue applies for other keys, like Home and End, as well as Delete. Since they are all in the same vertical line, it's a challenge to touch-type fast and be able to jump through lines or to move from the beginning of a line to its end. Another major issue is that this keyboard tends to get idle or lose signal quite a lot. So sometimes, you are in the middle of writing something or playing a game, you press a key and nothing happens. You keep pressing it, you are missing input on screen, and then suddenly you get a whole new line of repeated characters or you are very late to react in a game. Some keys are quite useless, like the Windows Search, Charms, Scroll Lock etc. You could have removed these keys and maybe place the Home/End, PgDn/PgUp on a horizontal line under the numpad. They would make more sense, imo. They are very awkward to use in this vertical layout.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Doesn't Work with Windows 7 It's a nice combination, but does not work with Windows 7, which is what is on my work machine, which is why I bought it. I don't recall seeing this restriction on the Store web site.
