microsoft wireless desktop 900 keyboard and mouse set is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quietly elegant I work in close quarters with over a dozen people who were getting frustrated with my noisy wired keyboard that came with my Lenovo laptop. As my company forbids downloading unauthorized software, MS wireless devices were the only ones which would reliably work with my laptop. I tried the MS Wireless Desktop 3000, which though nice has a keyboard that is far from quiet, even with careful and gentle use. I came across the Wireless Desktop 900 this week while browsing the internet, and I wondered if the "chiclet-styled" keys would be as quiet as those on my laptop. I ordered it on Monday and received it by Wednesday lunchtime, and I have been using it ever since. The keyboard is handsomely minimalist, with a low profile and elegant matte black finish. It's low profile is welcome as my desk is small. Best of all, the keys are whisper quiet - finally a keyboard that operates as advertised. While made of plastic with a "no-nonsense" demeanour, it seems sufficiently robust for daily use. I think I'm onto a winner, and would recommend it without reservation.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not Bluetooth, but nice beyond this. Though it states* it has Bluetooth in the description of the product, it does in fact not have Bluetooth, or at least I myself cannot find Bluetooth, and the detailed product information you can download as a PDF does not state any details on Bluetooth (which I only checked after receiving the product and looking into it further). *'Be more productive with this Bluetooth-enabled keyboard and mouse set.' *''ve got a wireless desktop that's perfect for using with your Bluetooth-enabled tablet, laptop, PC, or phone' So this keyboard cannot actually connect to your phone, or any device without a full sized USB port, which is a bit disappointing as i was hoping to use this on my windows tablet with Bluetooth, but now cannot. (If the page has been changed to reflect the lack of Bluetooth, then below is still relevant.) Besides this, the keyboard is very nice to the touch, keys soft, and not overly quiet, so you know when you have hit a key, but it is about the quietest I've used. There is no noticeable lag between pressing a key, and it appearing on screen. The customisable keys, such as the play/pause button/calculator button, are a nice feature, changeable through a downloaded program available on the Microsoft website. This program is easy to use, though you do have to go hunting for any program you want to change a key to open (e.g. calculator button to open chrome). There are very grippy feet on the base of the keyboard, as well as the feet of the legs when flipped down, so you can be assured it wont drift off as you use it. There is no visible writing (besides the keys themselves) on the keyboard or the underside, besides a small engraved 'Microsoft' in the top right, which also has a small green led light, which I have only noticed being on when i first put the two AA's (provided) in. The only complaint i can see people having is the thin enter key, and lack of on-board led's to let you know when any of the capital/number/scroll locks are enabled/disabled. There is no actual on/off switch for the keyboard (where as there is for the mouse), so I assume if left for enough time it will take a moment to wake up, or is always on and just super efficient on battery, though I am not sure on this. The mouse is a bit uncomfortable to use at first, but got used to this quickly. The plastic body and keys has a nice feel, but heavy once the batteries are put in. The USB dongle, in which the keyboard and mouse connect to, fits within the battery compartment when not in use, being held between the batteries as if in a USB port. The buttons are as customisable as the keyboard ones, changeable within the same software, with controls over windows 10, such as using the middle click button to open the task view. There is again no noticeable lag between moving the mouse/clicking to what happens on screen. The mouse moves easily on a desk without a muse pad, is accurate even on a reflective surface, and can be used without a problem on clothes or bedding if you use it to watch a film. The mouse also features no information stickers, same as the keyboard, only featuring an engraved 'Microsoft' on the glossy part between the left and right keys. Over all this desktop is elegant, nice to the touch, responsive, the lack of cables is freeing, and both are particularly useful with Windows 10, but if you are looking for a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse like the page states, this will not be for you, unless I just haven't found how to use the Bluetooth.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fine . . but It's a nice simple, comfortable design, a good weight, the mouse is a little plasticy but again fine - however the 'feature' that ruins it for me is that *every* morning when i come back to it (the keyboard) with my laptop - it is 'off' dead, unresponsive - I have to remove and replace the batteries to gain connectivity. Backlighting would have been nice, and others have mentioned the lack of caps num and scroll lock LEDs (personally i don't miss them).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product I purchased this particular keyboard and mouse to replace one that did not work well with Windows 10 and have had no more problems since.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Plays well with MS Wireless Display Adapter I have set up a standing desk in my wife's office, using this wireless keyboard and mouse and a Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter. She leaves her laptop docked at her primary "sitting desk", projects her screen to the MWDA, then walks over to the standing desk with its wireless screen/mouse/keyboard. On the first attempt I bought the Microsoft Designer series keyboard and mouse which use pure Bluetooth, in contrast to the USB dongle that handles the wireless communication with the laptop. It seemed simpler to just use Bluetooth -- but the performance was terrible. The mouse seriously lagged, and the MWDA would frequently disconnect. Her office is an a building with many Wifi networks running on every conceivable channel which probably didn't help. Using the Wireless Desktop 900 with its USB dongle helped a lot -- the mouse responsiveness is way better and the MWDA rarely disconnects. I also like the 900 keyboard layout better than the Designer keyboard layout. The Designer had the Home/Insert/PageUp/PageDown keys in a non-standard vertical bar, and the arrow keys were hard to find by touch. The 900 places both the arrow keys and the H/I/PU/PD keys in a more traditional layout.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Keyboard and Mouse Combo Initially bought the glossy Microsoft 900 mouse separately and have really enjoyed it. I was told the 900 mouse also came in matte and, as that was my only real criticism of the glossy one, I had to try it out. The difference in price between the mouse by itself or this combo was marginal, so I opted for the combo. I'm glad I did. It's really nice having fewer wires at my desk, but any wireless keyboard will do that. This one has chiclet style keys, which I didn't think I'd like but do, and is really very quiet. They also have a decent layout so everything is spaced pretty well and located pretty much right where you'd expect it. It has a lower profile than I'm used to, but I've found it works well. The matte finish feels great on both the keyboard and the mouse and neither end up getting smudged much, it's a nice improvement over what I had. For the keyboard to connect when first plugged in, you have to press a few keys to wake it up, but once it's connected, it stays connected all day. A coupling things you might not like are the lack of backlighting or a caps lock light. I don't need either, so not a big deal for me. Without these constant lights, I'm sure the batteries last much longer. Glad I took a chance on this one, I plan to order a second set for home use.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Loses Connection Daily The keyboard and mouse lose connection to the dongle on a daily basis, sometimes even three times a day. I'm constantly having to move the dongle from being plugged into the Microsoft hub USB port to my laptop's USB port. It is a pain, to say the least, when you are working. The only two ways to fix are to move it from the hub to the laptop, or completely reboot your computer system. I would not recommend to anyone.
