nikon d7100 dslr camera with 18-105mm lens kit is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 263.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Camera, I Own Two. I bought my first D7100 when they came out. I bought a second one about a year later to not have to change lens on the fly. My DX NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR is on one and my DX NIKKOR 35mm F1.8G is on the other most of the time. For Wide you can't beat DX NIKKOR 10-24mm F3.5-4.5G ED. I also have the great NIKKOR 50mm F1.4G. From shooting Wildlife to People, to Sunrises to Night shoots I am ready for anything. I shoot in Auto a lot and I always get the shot. I use the Scene mood a some too. I am a US Marine and had a TBI so keeps it easy. I love the DX reach. I am very happy with the photos I take daily, so are my FB fans. Semper Fi

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Carry Around Lens Really the title says it all. I have used this lens with the D90 since I got it with the kit. I think this lens has better color reproduction and response then all the other kit lenses provided with the other cameras further down the Nikon Hierarchy. My D90 is the first SLR camera of any type I have owned and I love it. Since I got the original kit I have purchased several Nikon lenses (professional and consumer) but the original 18-105mm ended up the tool of choice most of the time. Its just that versatile. My only complaint, in very low light without the flash and a tripod, there are clearly much better performers within nikon's line up.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I good kit-lens for beginner. A good lens for beginner, you can get a wide-angle until tele. The quality is acceptable, but it's feel too plasticy. The VR is usually useful, Anyway, what do you expect from a kit-lens, it's better than 18-55mm. I wouldn't recommend people to buy this lens separately, one is it a bit too expensive, two it's not worth to but separately as a walk-around lens, I would prefer 18-200 VRII, it's something worth more to invest in. I would say, if you are getting a D90 and you are a beginner, just want to walk around taking some pictures for personal usage, go for it. But if you want to get it separately, go for the 18-200 VRII, it's more worth to invest.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is the Best! I think I have died and gone to heaven - but then I upgraded from a D50 (10 years?) I managed to get by all this time with 6Mp by soon upgrading to the 18-200mm lens which allowed me to do all my cropping at picture-taking time. The autofocus on the D7100 is superb (marginal on the D50). With the 18-200 it is quite a handful (heavy) but well worth it. I highly recommend the 18-200. Get a Nikon UV filter (NC) on any Nikon lens you have. I have to get the SB-910 next (daughter's wedding coming up!) Went with the 64GB (Sandisk only!) Extreme Pro 95MB/s just to be on the safe side (really only need for video, I suppose).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great lens Up until a few weeks ago, these lens was the one I hardly used. I didn't think of it as a quality lens because it was the "kit" lens with my D90, and I have been looking at replacements. I was wrong. I took it to a Photo Safari on the Oregon coast, and it takes awesome images as long as you understand the limitations of the lens, and use some good technique. It will never be great in low light unless its on a tripod, not a big deal, almost all of my images were on a tripod. I probably could have gotten away with just bringing this lens with me if needed. It's stayed on my camera almost all of the time. Over all, Great lens. People shouldn't look down on it for being a "kit" lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great lens for general photography. Because of the range (18-105) or (27-157 on my Nikon D90), I have the ability to get good pictures of almost anything without having to change lenses. Close up (I wouldn't call it macro) performance is good. I have plenty of flower and butterfly pictures to prove it. I find myself going to the wide angle setting for many scenic photos. Some distortion is present but it is not noticeable unless you are very critical. The telephoto end is great for portraits and approachable wildlife. The VR works well as I have been successful in many low light situations with this lens. Sharpness, detail, and contrast are excellent. If I could only carry one lens this would be my pick.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from When in doubt, move up! Started my serious camera-owning life with a D40 and loved it. Moved to a D5200 last year and never felt that I had moved up that much. In fact, I preferred the color rendition of the D40! So I did what I knew I should have done in the first place - traded the D5200 in towards a D7100. I don't get the reviews that say that these two cameras are so similar. The 7100 takes better pictures. Period. And I now get how valuable that top LCD screen is to change settings on the fly without having to dig into menus. And I love actually that it's bigger. Just feels better in the hand. I also got the MB-D15 grip and like the heft and look of it. With an 18-200 and a 35mm Prime, I'm loving my set-up now. Highly recommended!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing photographs at a wonderful price! I purchased this camera as an upgrade to my Nikon D3300. I had originally purchased the D3300 with the thought that "hey, this is probably all I'll ever need". Well, to put it bluntly, I was wrong. Using the D3300 I started up a little photo business of my own, and things took off! I quickly realized that I'd need something better.. but something that was truly affordable! The D7100 has met and surpassed all the needs that I, and my customers, had. I have to say I am very impressed by the level of detail this camera can achieve. I am SO happy with this purchase and feel that THIS is the camera that I can hold on to for a while!
