Cooks Co-Op: A Feast for Foodies

Get ready to embark on a culinary journey, as chef Martin Boetz, the former executive chef of Longrain restaurant, transforms a quintessentially Aussie shed in the NSW Hawkesbury region into a world-class restaurant.

In this original web series developed by Home Beautiful in conjunction with Harvey Norman, you’ll be able to join Martin on his passion project and watch the incredible transformation for yourself.

Over the course of the series, Martin also delves deep to discover the best local produce, chats to local farmers and suppliers about everything from sustainability to the best cuts of meat, gets some great insider tips from local experts, and, of course, cooks up a storm with some of the most mouth-watering home-grown produce our bountiful land has to offer!

Everyone Martin meets along the way has a story to tell and some incredible produce to show off. In the series, Martin meets up with a cheese maker, a wood-fired sourdough baker, a bee farmer, a fishmonger and a host of other knowledgeable experts.

Each recipe in the Cooks Co-op series is lovingly prepared by – Martin Boetz – the master chef himself, using all local ingredients and inspired by the local characters he meets. There are also a couple of guest chefs who’ll be joining Marty and showing off their own unique take on modern Australian cooking.


An old run-down shed is soon to become a world-class restaurant thanks to Marty Boetz’s passion and guidance.

It All Began A Few Years Ago…

Back in 2012, Martin discovered a property in the Hawkesbury Valley with an unparalleled river view, and promptly snapped it up.

Now, with an entire host of quality, local food growers and producers cropping up in every corner of the region, it was only a matter of time before Martin had a light bulb moment and decided to combine his passion for cooking with his love of fresh produce.

And that is how Cooks Co-op came into being.

Now, we have a host of incredibly talented and super passionate food producers, farmers and chefs working together on one amazing project. In the following short video, you can get a taste for yourself of the kinds of skilled and enthusiastic talent that Martin has attracted with his project, and what this unique series has to offer in the near future.

A True Passion For Local Talent And Produce

Local producer Gerry Harvey is an active member and contributor in his local area, and is a passionate farmer with a strong connection to the land.

“I was already a part of the local growing community,” says Gerry. “My produce is part of that food chain. I want to share in the knowledge of local farmers and help out where I can.”

As an advocate for local businesses, food producers and farmers, Gerry believes in placing emphasis on quality and authenticity. He also heartily supports the paddock to plate philosophy that resonates so deeply with Marty Boetz; so it’s no surprise to find Gerry involved with a special project like Cooks Co-op.

“A top city chef discovers the importance of local produce, local suppliers, their unique skills and how they sustain our environment and our community all through the joy of food and cooking. What’s not to love about that?” he says enthusiastically of the show.

It’s hard not to feel inspired when listening to Gerry talk about his passion for sustainable cooking and local produce.

“Our kitchen always reflects the season. Whatever is ripe in our garden is on our plates – strawberries on our cereal or fresh picked veggies for dinner. I love gardening – you know what real food is when you’ve watched it grow in your own backyard. We have chooks too, because like everything else, fresh eggs just taste better.”
