Making His Mark
Tim’s international career began early. At just 15 years old, he made his Paralympic debut at Rio 2016, gaining valuable experience on the world stage and setting the foundation for what would follow.
In the years that followed, he steadily built his presence in international competition. At the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, Tim secured two silver medals, establishing himself as a strong presence in para swimming.
Rising on the World Stage
Momentum continued to build through major championships. At the World Para Swimming Championships, Tim consistently delivered strong performances across multiple events.
Tokyo 2020 marked a breakthrough, where he claimed his first Paralympic medals, including silver in the 200m Individual Medley and a relay silver, alongside a bronze in the 100m backstroke.
Reaching New Heights
At the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, Tim delivered the strongest performance of his career to date. He secured his first individual Paralympic gold in the 200m Individual Medley, setting a Paralympic record, and added a second gold as part of the 4x100m medley relay team, along with silver in the 100m butterfly.
His continued success reflects both preparation and mindset:
“I always feel extremely proud to put on the green and gold and stand in front of the world as an Australian.”
Beyond the Pool
Outside of competition, Tim balances the demands of elite sport with his studies and is set to complete his Engineering degree this year. Managing both commitments requires discipline and structure, something he approaches with the same focus he brings to the pool.
“Balancing my engineering degree with my sporting commitments is very much about communication and staying focused on each part of my day.”
Looking Ahead
With multiple Paralympic medals and international titles to his name, Tim continues to set his sights on future competition, including upcoming Commonwealth and Paralympic Games.
“It’s an incredible honour to represent my country and I always want to make everyone back home proud.”
Focused, driven and grounded in his approach, Tim Hodge continues to lead by example, showing what is possible through consistency, hard work and belief.
