Rated 3 out of 5 by from Looks good It was purchased in March of this year and my first impression was that it looked very clean and smart. After it was set up I found it wouldn't print with gmail and my banking site, it would only spit out a blank sheet of paper. I have since resolved those problems by updating the driver. Bad points are that there are no warning lights to indicate no paper or low toner. You could also make the unit large enugh to house the paper storage internally like your mono model which I prevoiusly owned, the only reason I updated was because I wanted it to run on wi-fi. I loved my old one and had no problems with it for the entire time i had it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from does the job This was a replacement for the HL2130, it is costlier but not nearly as good. It is way slower to get going, the paper is always exposed in the tray which allows dust to settle and it is a bigger unit. The setup instructions are wrong, they say to load the paper and then turn on, this causes an immediate problem as the machine sucks up a piece of paper immediately and causes a paper jam.I had to take the first one back and the shop replaced it, thinking it was just a glitch I followed the instructions as per the manual and the same thing happened. This needs addressing urgently, whoever wrote the manual has not set up the machine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Performance vs Price -- Excellent! I have used my Brother 1210W now for a few months and am completely pleased with performance. I purchased this model due to its price compared to its competitors, none of which matched performance and quality of print. Toner use is excellent, I anticipated far greater than this. Its graphics could be better though for 600 x 600 DPI I find its result quite good enough. To adjust for additional shades of grey and definition would reduce speed of print and increase toner use. The page printed count shows 569 A4 pages for the supplied toner cartridge which is about 75% used. I feel this lives up to its advertised consumption and user guide statements. A highly satisfactory purchase.Thank you.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Inadequate This purchase was recommended by the retailer as "perfect" for our home use situation when our previous laser printer was no longer maintained by the manufacturer. After a month or so of use, probably not more than 100 pages, the print quality was deteriorating and features like printing envelope were non existent. It jambed and wouldn't print even slightly thicker weight paper. Totally inadequate for even the average domestic use. Then I found out that the toner replacement was dearer that the original cost of the printer and offered only 1000 prints! I returned it to the retailer and upgraded to a Brother HL-2380DW that seems to have all the functions necessary at 3 times the original cost and even dearer toner replacement cost. You can't win!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Prints great but the wireless function is terrible I bought this on impulse at an Officeworks store. First the good parts: It is compact, quiet, prints well. The starter toner lasts a while. A very good machine, all in all. On the downside, however, the wireless functionality has been impossible to deal with. Took a bit of setup time, but I managed to get it working from both Windows 7 and a Windows 8 laptops. Then, I changed my wifi modem, and it stopped working. After numerous re-installation of software, it got working again. Then I upgraded to Windows 10, and it stopped working again. I still havent managed to get it working with Win 10. Tried everything from reinstalling to updating the drivers, firmware...everything. So, now it is just a good printer without wireless functionality. I give up.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Budget printer with dubious wifi/WPS connectivity Bought this as a replacement to the Bro 2140 which gave us good service for several years. We chose this one because there was no 2140, and this version came with wifi (which more or less doubled Officeworks' price.) The one we got wouldn't connect via WPS so we took it back. This second one connected after being set up via USB, but has since lost the connection and will not connect via WPS. And it's 2016 - this is old technology by now! I think Brother know the wifi/WPS is flaky because the installation instructions recommend you set the printer up via USB. As a printer it's OK - obviously built to a price but for document printing still way better than inkjet. I think it's about 30 years since I first encountered Brother Laser printers, and this is the first one I've found disappointing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fast to print I am very pleased with my printer as it is connected to my desk top computer and I was pleased with the speed of printing. I purchased a laser printer as the cost of inks for inkjet was far too expensive. My only complaint was 3 paper jams and difficult to clear as one was at the back and I had to remove the cartridge to get to the jamb, the paper was in the tray and jamb occurred after the printer drew in the paper with no reason or indication of a jam.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really happy for the price Used for over 2 months now, and I can't complain. Set up went easily, it has never missed a beat with the wireless connection, and I'm amazed at the quality for the price. Today I noticed a mark on the paper and so downloaded the manual and removed the toner and cleaned the roller. The instructions were adequate, but could be even more comprehensive, I have previous experience with cleaning printers and would expect a novice to have difficulty.
