Rated 1 out of 5 by UnDockablePOS from Does not work So purchased 3x of the new Microsoft docks for the dual screen support, however once I connected one realized it did not detect the Surface, or would throw up device not recognized issues, tested all 3x docks of 3x out of the box surfaces, none of which were able to connect to the dock, on 1x occasion only I was able to read a usb stick I had connected to the dock for testing purposes but that was only once. looking into this further all I can find is articles of people asking how Microsoft can release a dock that doesn't work in the slightest. so far I have been advised to Reformat all 3 of the out of the box units incase this may be an issue???? WORST PRODUCT EVER x 10

Rated 2 out of 5 by FrustratedFanBoy from Mini DisplayPort fail Using a Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable, I am able to use my 4K monitor by connecting it directly to be Surface Book however, when it's docked, my monitor simply will not work! I get some response on the screen to show that it's picked up something however there is no image whatsoever. I have tried all the troubleshooting steps as found online but still no luck. If I have to use a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter then I will only get 30Hz @ 4K which is poor at best. This should be something MS advises users during purchase because I feel like an idiot now, my entire new set up was based around the SB + Dock.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Stuart Troy from MiniDisplay port Fail Purchased the Surface Dock only two weeks ago. After only ten days, the dock stopped recognising my 4K external monitor. Meanwhile, the monitor works fine, if I bypass the dock, and connect it directly to the Surface Pro 4. I'll be heading back to JB-HiFi to get this Dock replaced, but I'm really concerned about all the similar posts; referencing 'monitor not detected' when using the dock. The Surface Dock is an expensive port replicator, and I'd expect more from the Microsoft Hardware division.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Darth Pac from Microsoft Missed the Mark here! I don't understand why Microsoft couldn't make the power supply for the dock compatible with the travel charger? Or somehow allowed the dock to be more portable to be used in conjunction with the travel charger. Even if the travel charger was only capable of powering the dock and not recharge the battery, I'd be happy with that. Why is the cable going from the dock to the Surface so short? it's 50cm length I find is just not quite short enough. If it's intended to be a fixed dock, then why not stick with the SP3 dock design? I was under the impression that this dock would be more versatile and given hindsight, I would rather have bought a 2nd travel charger and a Targus dock or a wireless screen mirroring dongle. I'd also be able to use the Targus dock with my MacBook Pro and other devices too!

Rated 1 out of 5 by DissapointedAgain from Terrible for the price For a device that costs a fortune, it is terrible. Using a recommended monitor does NOT work with DP at recommended resolutions and refresh rate (unnecessary purchase due to recommendations on the Surface support page - AUD 1300). Dual monitors do NOT work even when using ACTIVE adaptors (there goes another unnecessary AUD 100). USB NEVER works with this - have to plug in a separate hub to the Surface Book itself which defeats the purpose of the dock. In short avoid at all costs

Rated 1 out of 5 by Allane from display problems Sorry to have to give such a negative review but although the dock looks neat, it suffers from terrible problems with running displays. An hour or so of trying many different 'procedures' finally gets my two monitors to work properly (at 30 Hz as per microsft's specs). However as soon as anything is altered (e.g. surface goes into standby, or one or both monitors are switched off and on for any reason, or the surface is shut down and restarted) everything has to be resetup again, again taking hours of 'fiddling'. Worse still, the 'procedure' needed to get it to work properly is not consistent, as though there is something marginal in the electronics that makes it behave in a non-repeatable way. Displays work fine individually when run from the internal surface display port. The dock really needs a total fix!

Rated 1 out of 5 by SteveP from Barely Works I agree with the other reviews here, DisplayPort is a fail, my new Dell screens will not work with the DisplayPort ports, if i use DisplayPort to HDMI adapters it works. But I shouldnt have to.. Ethernet works on and off aswell. I really expected no issues with my new Surface Pro and Dock considering we are up to Surface Pro 4 now and its still not right, my 2 had lots of issues aswell. Also considering the price points its pretty disappointing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Srav from MiniDisplay port Fail I had sugnificant problems with mini display port. Better success with connecting the monitor directly to the Surface however it defeats the point. I had to change the refreah rate on the monitor, and turn off surface display to get it to work... so i cannot dual screen with this dock with surface pro3 i7 processor. I feel like it wouldve been better if i kept the surface pro 3 dock... no issues whatsoever and can dual screen.
