Raised in Toowoomba, Queensland, Ferguson grew up involved in a wide range of sports including swimming, netball, touch football and rugby sevens before committing to rugby league. Her progression through the game accelerated after joining the Tweed Seagulls while studying at Griffith University, leading to her signing with the Broncos in 2021.
