Set a schedule and let your robot lawn mower take it from there. Quiet, efficient and reliable, these boundary-guided or GPS-mapped mowers navigate your yard autonomously – cutting grass, avoiding obstacles and returning to dock when the job is done.
A robotic pool cleaner lifts dirt from the pool floor, with many models also scrubbing walls and the waterline. Smart nav delivers coverage, while compatible models offer app controls and scheduling. Once charged or connected, they’re ready to dive straight in.
Powerful suction helps robotic window cleaners grip and glide across glass, tackling large and hard-to-reach spots. Selected models also clean mirrors and tiles, while guided navigation and safety features such as tethers and anti-drop protection add reassurance.

What are outdoor robots?
Think of outdoor robots as the home helpers that clock on when you’re ready to clock off. These clever, autonomous devices take care of the repetitive (and boring) maintenance jobs that can quickly consume your weekend.
Harvey Norman’s outdoor robotics ecosystem covers three key categories:
Robot lawn mowers that work quietly to keep your grass trimmed to schedule.
Robotic pool cleaners that scrub and vacuum your pool floor, walls and waterline.
Robotic window cleaners that tackle glass surfaces too awkward to reach by hand.Â
Once they’re set up, there’s little left for you to do. Choose a schedule or cleaning mode, press start and let your outdoor bestie get on with it!
Are outdoor robot cleaners worth it?
For many households they’re a game changer! Outdoor robot cleaners take the repetitive jobs off your hands.
A robotic pool cleaner can collect dirt and debris more regularly than the occasional manual clean, helping your pool stay inviting and potentially reducing the need for frequent water adjustments. Robot window cleaners are handy for large or awkward-to-reach glass too, taking the stretching and scrubbing out of the equation.
The win is having a backyard helper that shows up and gets the job done. Your outdoor living spaces stay looking on point, and you get more time to kick back and enjoy them.
How do outdoor robots work independently?
Outdoor robots combine sensors, navigation tech and programmed instructions to complete routine jobs. Once set up, they can navigate their working area, respond to detected obstacles and carry out much of the mowing or cleaning cycle automatically.
A robotic lawn mower stays within a defined mowing area using a boundary wire or wire-free navigation. Depending on the model, this may include GPS, cameras, or AI-powered mapping. From there it follows a systematic pattern, detects obstacles and returns to its dock automatically when the battery runs low or the job is done.
Robotic pool cleaners use pumps, brushes and filters to loosen and collect dirt and debris. Selected models use sensors and guided navigation to plan their route. Cleaning coverage varies, with some models designed for the pool floor and others able to clean walls and the waterline.
A robotic window cleaner uses suction to grip the glass, while guided navigation helps direct them across the surface. Once positioned and secured, they can follow a programmed route. Rain sensors, anti-drop protection and tethers are common safety features.
What smart features do outdoor robotics offer?
Today’s outdoor robots go well beyond an on/off switch. Depending on the model, app connectivity can let you choose cleaning modes, set schedules, adjust settings, create no-go zones and check progress from your phone.
Robot lawn mowers offer features like digital mapping, adjustable cutting heights and scheduled mowing. Selected pool and window cleaners also feature app controls, cleaning modes and useful alerts.
Smart navigation can use sensors, cameras, GPS or LiDAR to map routes, detect edges and respond to obstacles. These vary by model, so check the specs to find the one that works for you!
Are outdoor robot cleaners and robotic mowers easy to set up and use?Â
A robotic wingman should make outdoor upkeep easier, not add another job to the list. Setup varies by model, but everyday use is straightforward once everything is in place.Â
Robotic pool cleaners are often quick to start. Charge or connect the unit, drop it in the pool and select a cleaning mode. Some models can start at the touch of a button and park near the pool wall when finished.
Robot window cleaners are generally straightforward to get started. Fit the cleaning pad, secure the safety tether and position the unit, then connect to the compatible app where available for added control and settings. Suction and guided navigation help take care of the rest.
Robot lawn mower setup depends on the navigation system. Some models use boundary wires, while wire-free options digitally map the lawn using positioning or vision technology. Once set up, compatible models let you manage zones and schedules through an app.Â
