Coffee Tables & Side Tables: The Stylish Sidekicks to Your Sofa!

What coffee tables are in style?

Whether you have an eye for sleek, modern black coffee tables, adore the warmth of timber, or need a coffee table with storage, Harvey Norman carries a selection of trending and traditional pieces that will make a centrepiece for your comfort zone.

Key looks include:

• Marble – Effortlessly elegant, add a touch of luxe with sophisticated marble.
• Concrete – Striking and durable, a concrete top with black or white legs offers an industrial allure.
• Wooden – Add natural charm with the rich beauty of oak, acacia, or mango wood.
• Hamptons – Create this look with a whitewashed or timber coffee or side table.
• Glass – Make a contemporary statement with the clean, seamless appeal of glass.
• Built-In Storage – Added drawers or shelving are a must for homes lacking storage space.

What shape should my coffee table be?

When deciding on the right shape to suit your room, consider your available space and the configuration of your current seating. If you have a narrow area or long lounge, a rectangular or oval coffee table may be your perfect match.

A round coffee table design provides a fabulous focal point and contrasts well with sectional sofas and angular armchairs. For a modern, artful statement, consider an asymmetrical style.

What's the difference between a side table and a coffee table?

While coffee and side tables should tick the boxes of being both a functional and stylish addition to your lounge room, there are three main differences between the two.

• Height – Your coffee table should be no higher than your lounge, for ease of accessibility and side tables should be the same height as your sofa arm or no more than 5cm higher.
• Size – Coffee tables are wider than side tables as they're a central feature. Side tables usually range between 40-50cm wide so they can be tucked neatly beside a lounge or under a window.
• Function – Coffee tables can accommodate stacks of books, remotes, phones, display items, and that all-important tray of snacks, while side tables are ideal for a single lamp or vase.

Whether you're shopping for a new coffee table, TV unit, bookcase, sideboard, or hallway table, you'll find everything you need to complete the heart of your home at Harvey Norman.
