They remove excess moisture by drawing in warm air that is either cooled across refrigerated coils or absorbed by a drying material before drier air is released back into the room. The condensation is collected in a tank for disposal or by a continuous drainage hose that is routed to a drain for efficient water removal. Smart, huh?

Which type of dehumidifier is right for me?

• Desiccant (Absorption) Dehumidifiers – Portable with a quieter operation, water is extracted from the air using the absorption method. These models work particularly well in lower temperatures – and they make energy-efficient clothes dryers, too!
• Compressor (Refrigeration) Dehumidifiers – Work best in warmer climates and draw air across cooling coils, causing water to instantly condense for a reliable and energy-efficient way of removing large volumes of moisture.

What should I look for when buying a dehumidifier?

Here are a few things to consider when choosing the right air dehumidifier for your home:

• Tank and Room Size – The greater your floor space, the larger your dehumidifier should be to operate efficiently and effectively — and the tank should store at least 4L of water. For compact rooms, opt for a portable dehumidifier that offers optimal moisture extraction without being too bulky.
• Noise – 'Quiet Mark' approved models are great for bedrooms or living areas.
• Water-Removal Efficiency – Consider a device with a continuous drainage hose for hassle-free maintenance.
• Easy Controls – Some dehumidifiers offer smart features such as live humidity control, air filtration to extract airborne debris, and laundry mode for faster clothes drying!
